Hotel Jobs in UK — Which Hospitality Roles Can Actually Be Sponsored

UK hotels and restaurants hire thousands of overseas workers — but only for specific roles, and only when the employer holds a sponsor licence. The official list below tells you exactly which occupations qualify. Read it yourself before any agent explains it to you.

What changed in July 2025

On 22 July 2025 the UK raised the Skilled Worker skill bar to degree level (RQF 6) and removed more than 100 occupations from the eligible list. Lower-skilled hospitality roles — general housekeeping, waiting, kitchen portering — are not viable sponsorship routes anymore. The standard salary threshold for most roles now sits at GBP 41,700 a year or the occupation's going rate, whichever is higher.

What this means for you, role by role

• Chefs, hotel management, specialist roles: some still qualify — but the list and salary rules decide, not a recruiter's promise. Search the occupation code on the official page below.
• Housekeeping, waiters, cleaners: assume no sponsorship. Anyone selling these with a visa attached is taking your money.

How to verify an employer in five minutes

1. Find the employer on the register of licensed sponsors on GOV.UK (free, official, searchable)
2. Confirm the specific role appears on the eligible occupations list
3. Ask the employer for the salary in writing and compare it with the going rate on GOV.UK

Red flags

"Housekeeping job in London with visa sponsorship, pay agent fee first" — this exact message has emptied bank accounts across Lagos, Nairobi and Dhaka. Visa fees go to the UK government, published rates, no middlemen.

Honest warning

Without a degree or a scarce skill, the UK is a harder corridor than Canada or Germany right now. Spend your application energy where the rules actually fit you.
