Canada's official job board currently lists over 1,100 livestock and general farm worker postings across the provinces. No degree needed. Farms hire abroad because Canadians do not apply for these jobs — that gap is your opening.
How to work the Job Bank farm search
Open the link below. It is Job Bank's live market report for farm worker postings (NOC 85100), listed by province. Click a province to see actual employers and jobs. Alberta and Ontario post the highest volumes. Filter for postings that mention hiring foreign workers — that usually means the employer holds an LMIA, the government approval that lets them hire from outside Canada.
Two legal routes, know the difference
- SAWP (Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program): the employer houses you and hires through government channels from participating countries only — Mexico and Commonwealth Caribbean. Maximum 8 months. If you are from Kenya, Ghana, India or similar, SAWP is not your route; say this clearly to anyone offering it.
- LMIA agricultural stream: open to any nationality. The employer applies for an LMIA, you apply for a work permit after the approval. Employers must provide adequate, affordable housing that meets Canada Mortgage and Housing standards.
What you need
- Farm or physical work experience you can prove
- Valid passport and clean police record
- Basic English for safety instructions
- Readiness for real physical work in all weather
Red flags
A "Canada farm slot" sold on WhatsApp for $500-2,000 is theft. Real farm employers pay for their own LMIA — that cost is legally the employer's, never yours.
Check every employer against the free ESDC LMIA employer list before you send your passport copy to anyone.
